Cowboy Class: Our very own Chisholm Cheeks (the doctor of destruction) conducted a clinic for new shooters on May 3rd. Sliphammer Yates, Lady Viper, Buffalo Burr, and Marshal RD assisted with the class. Fourteen people attended, with several of them joining the club. All attendees will be eligible to shoot the May match free of charge. New members are: James Herman, Brian Cremer (Marshal Huckleberry), David Isaacson (Buffalo Charlie), David Lawson, James Kirk (Captain Kirk) and Daniel Stille (Diamond Back Dave). Welcome partners!
April Shoot: Twenty-three folks people showed up for what turned out to be a pretty nice day. The sun came out about the third stage of shooting and it warmed up so we could all take off our dusters. We had at couple of new shooters with the Curacao Kid and Ricochet Rita trying their hands at this. They both did really well. Ricochet Rita was top Working Class Cowboy. We had a couple of folks shoot clean. Buffalo Burr shot his first clean shoot ever, and Missouri Sunshine shot her first clean shoot ever outdoors. For some folks it's not all about speed. They just want to hit all the targets and do it safely. Marshal RD won the match and was the fastest at the work record stage. He was only eleven seconds off the world record. Twenty-four shots in twenty-seven seconds is nothing to sneeze at. We had a bunch of people re-up for 2008, but don't forget to renew your membership before the next shoot. Please mail your memberships in to Dee Mack, as they tend to get misplaced if you bring them to the shoot or try to pay for them along with your monthly shoot fee.
Cowboy Trap and Skeet: The first annual Klondike Cowboy Trap and Skeet shoot was held on April 12th. Seven brave cowpokes; Deadeye Farmboy, Blazing Ridge Runner, Missouri Sunshine, Wrongshot Willie, Boothill Bones, Sliphammer Yates, and Sheriff Boo Boo Bottom braved rain, sleet, hail, snow, tsunamis and earthquakes to humble themselves in the elements with cowboy shotguns. Marshal RD, ran the shoot and kept everybody honest. Everybody still had fun. New Class Added to Peacemaker Shoots: A new class, "Working Cowboy" will be added to the shoots this year. This class is not recognized by SASS, but we are seeing it run at several other clubs. Working Cowboys use only one pistol, one rifle and no shotgun. This should help people just getting into the sport as it saves a substantial amount of money. It may also help some of our older shooters and anybody who has one pistol undergoing repairs. The stage writers will need to keep this class in mind when designing stages this year.
